semi-sweet chocolate chips

Crisco shortening
to smooth melted chocolate

Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sifted confectioners’ sugar together until fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla, and mix until smooth.
Gradually add flour and salt. Mix until soft dough forms.
Transfer dough to a piping bag with Wilton 1M tip. Pipe 3-inch S shapes onto baking sheets.
Freeze trays for 15 minutes before baking.
Bake 18–20 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks.
Melt chocolate chips with shortening in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals. Stir until smooth.
Dip each cookie halfway into chocolate. Place on parchment. Add sprinkles while chocolate is wet. Let set.
Notes
These cookies are perfect for make-ahead gifts or dessert platters. Customize with white chocolate or almond extract for variation.
