Ingredients
  

Crust Layer

  • 1 box yellow cake mix 15.25 oz
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs

Topping Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 lb powdered sugar about 4 cups
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal.
  • Melt butter and let it cool slightly. In a bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and 2 eggs. Mix until smooth. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • In the same bowl, beat softened cream cheese until fluffy. Add remaining 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and lump-free.
  • Pour cream cheese mixture over the cake base and spread evenly with a spatula.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center has a slight jiggle. Do not overbake.
  • Cool completely on a wire rack for at least 2 hours. Lift using parchment overhang and cut into squares.

Notes

Let bars cool fully before slicing for clean layers. Try adding lemon zest, almond extract, or sea salt for a fun twist. Store chilled for a firmer, cheesecake-like texture.
